Great documentary. Worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. About a lot of famous counter-culture, rocker, skater, punk dudes and their family lives and balance, or lack thereof. It’s pretty powerful, but this kind of stuff always gets me in a soft spot, especially because I lost my father at a young age. I was talking to my brother about that; about the person who we think our dad was is really nothing more than this amalgamation of pictures and other people’s stories and memories, and that we’ve been hanging onto/hearing that for so long (almost 25 years now) that it’s completely overwritten our actual memories.
It’s to the point where I can’t really say that I miss my dad as much as I feel sad and sorry that I missed the opportunity to grow up with my dad, to share that bond.
