Someone commented to my dinner post yesterday asking what the heck fiddlehead ferns were. Well, here are some more pictures. Fiddleheads are a fixture in the northeast in early spring. They grow wild in wet areas and are picked by hand. They are literally unfurled ferns that would unroll themselves (unfurl is the fancy word) into new arms (or furls) of a fern if they aren’t picked. They are completely safe to eat and kind of taste like asparagus (without making your pee smell funny). To cook them, it is recommended that you boil them first. Some people only steam them. I par-boil then toss in a pan with olive oil. They are only available for a few weeks in spring, so get out and enjoy them before they are gone!

Not having anyone IRL to discuss ASOIAF with as I read is driving me crazy, especially because I’m in the same book as the GOT show and I’m trying to be considerate to myself and others.

I read AGOT very quickly. I breezed through ACOK long before the series aired, but I just haven’t had the time/willingness to get through ASOS

I’m around page 800 of ASOS. If anyone is also reading, feel free to shoot me a message. I’d like to maybe get a reading group together.

I want to try the 100 pushups program, and I think the best way to do them every day is to make them part of my work routine, but I’m a little concerned that I will start to think of my office more and more as a prison cell.
